The Revenue Commissioners have started to increase the flat rate expenses that employees can claim for doing their jobs. It has been so long since changes to that regime were made in certain cases. Those expenses are essentially an allowance you get for having to carry out your job ,and get a clean uniform, and provide tools. There are about 150 different categories, one for most jobs.
Now they are fairly outdated at this stage and some jobs are not covered, but the good news is that Revenue commissioners have been looking at these flat expenses for years now and have finally gotten around to increasing some of them.
For example, if you are a nurse, you can claim a flat rate expense essentially for the cost of cleaning and providing a uniform.
The changes have now been implemented and it will update its website what it says in the due course.
